Hosted Telephony for UK Business — a Cloud Phone System That Flows

DragTech designs, delivers and supports hosted telephony for small and medium UK businesses. Your switchboard moves to the cloud, your numbers come with you, and every call follows a flow you actually chose.

Our hosted voice platform, Flow, puts calls, chat, meetings and your whole switchboard in one secure desktop and mobile app — provisioned, ported and looked after end to end by UK engineers.

    What is hosted telephony?

Hosted telephony — also called hosted VoIP, a hosted phone system, cloud PBX or a cloud based phone system — is a business phone service where the switchboard runs in a data centre rather than in your building. Calls travel over your broadband or ethernet connection, and your numbers, greetings, menus and routing rules are configured in software.

Because nothing physical sits on site, there is no maintenance contract on a dying PBX, no engineer visit to change a greeting, and no limit tied to the number of copper lines into the building. You add or remove users as the team changes, and the system grows with you.

It also matters right now: the UK's traditional PSTN and ISDN network is being retired, so every business still on analogue lines or an on-premise switchboard needs a migration plan. Hosted telephony is that plan.

What you get with DragTech hosted telephony

Everything a UK SME needs from a cloud phone system, tailored to how your team actually answers the phone.

    Cloud switchboard, no hardware

Your PBX lives in a secure UK data centre. No comms-room box to maintain, patch or replace, and no engineer visit to change a setting.

Call flows built around your business

Auto-attendant menus, opening hours, hunt groups, ring strategies, queues with announcements and overflow to another team or site.

    Desk, desktop and mobile

One extension follows your colleague across a handset, the desktop app, the mobile app and Microsoft Teams calling.

    Keep your numbers

Full UK number porting, including whole ranges, plus new geographic and non-geographic numbers on request.

    Plan your call routing

Discuss how calls should reach another team or device when your usual operators are unavailable.

    Tailored team workflows

Who we build hosted voice for

    Multi-site SMEs

One numbering plan, free internal calls between sites and a single set of call flows to manage.

    Busy front desks

Queues, wallboards and overflow routing so nobody rings out to voicemail during a rush.

    Hybrid and field teams

Engineers and reps take office calls on their mobile, presenting the company number.

    Regulated and recorded environments

Call recording, retention and search where you need an audit trail.

How we move you to a hosted phone system

    1. 1

      Listen

We map how calls reach you today — who answers what, where calls get stuck, and what your team wishes it could do.

    2. 2

      Design the flow

Menus, opening hours, groups, queues and escalation are drawn out and agreed before anything is built.

    3. 3

      Check the connectivity

We test the line into your building and, where needed, provide broadband or ethernet sized for voice.

    4. 4

      Build and port

Users, handsets and apps are provisioned, then your numbers are ported with the old lines kept live in parallel.

    5. 5

      Train and cut over

Your team is shown the app, we cut over out of hours, and a DragTechie stays with you through the first days.

    6. 6

      Review your flow

Review call routing as your team and business requirements change.

Choosing a hosted phone system for your business

Start with how your customers contact you and what happens after the call, rather than a list of handsets. A reception team, a sales hunt group and a customer-service desk may each need a different flow. DragTech helps shape DragFlow around those internal processes.

    • Your people: how many users need an extension, where they work and who covers unanswered calls.
    • Your numbers: the business numbers you want to retain and how each should route.
    • Your call flow: menus, hunt groups, queues and the teams responsible for each enquiry.
    • Your follow-up: DragFlow tickets are generated on hunt groups, then allocated and tracked alongside operator notes, call recordings and AI transcripts.
    • Your connection: discuss the broadband or ethernet used by your phones and other business applications.

What to include in a hosted telephony quote request

Tell us your business name, contact details, approximate user count, office locations and what you want to improve. If you already have a phone system, describe the numbers and devices you use. We can then discuss a solution tailored to your requirements without publishing a one-size-fits-all package.

    Hosted telephony questions, answered

    What is hosted telephony?

Hosted telephony is a business phone system that runs in the cloud instead of on a switchboard in your building. Calls travel over your internet connection, your numbers and call routing live in a secure UK data centre, and your team makes and takes calls from a desk phone, a desktop app or a mobile.

    How does hosted telephony work?

Your existing numbers are ported to the hosted platform. Incoming calls arrive at the platform, which applies the call flow you have designed — opening hours, auto-attendant menus, hunt groups, queues, voicemail — and delivers the call to whichever device your colleague is signed in to. Nothing on site needs maintaining.

What is the difference between hosted telephony, hosted VoIP and cloud PBX?

They describe the same thing from different angles. VoIP is the technology that carries the call over the internet, a PBX is the switchboard that routes it, and hosted or cloud means that switchboard is run for you as a service rather than installed in your comms room.

Can we keep our existing phone numbers?

Yes. Geographic and non-geographic UK numbers can be ported across, including whole number ranges. We run the port for you and keep your old lines live until the new system is proven.

Is hosted telephony reliable enough to replace ISDN or a traditional PBX?

With the right connectivity, yes — and it is now the only forward path, as the UK PSTN and ISDN network is being switched off. Because the switchboard is in the cloud, calls can be re-routed to mobiles or another site instantly if your office loses power or broadband.

How long does it take to move over?

A small office can be live within days once numbers are confirmed. Multi-site organisations with complex call flows are usually delivered in a few weeks, run in parallel with the old system, and cut over out of hours.

Does it work with Microsoft Teams and mobiles?

Yes. Colleagues can answer on the DragFlow desktop app, the mobile app, a desk handset or through Microsoft Teams, all on the same extension and the same call flow.
